  1. Hi my question is can you set the voicelive to harmonize to the tone of your voice rather than other instruments (meaning can it follow and harmonize with your vocal without a preset key/chord ) if not its a nightmare and I’ve just bought one !!

  2. My VLT is on the way … mixed in with everyone’s xmas presents, I suppose. I’m going to use it for recording demos and ideas for arrangements and such with my Tascam DP-24. What I hope to do is use it to produce harmonies that are just too high for me do myself, and record these harmonies to a track on the DP24. I don’t plan to use the VLT guitar track, as I prefer to record acoustic guitars differently (mid/side mic’ing) but that might change if I hear what I want from the VLT. From what I gather from the manual and your tutorial (nice job, btw!) I can go dual mono, and record just the vocals … with lead muted so I get just the harmonies on that output. Will I be able to MONITOR the performance including the input vocal (even though I don’t want it in the output)?

What I hope to do on some songs is to provide backing vocal harmonies that do not follow the melody of the song. I’d record the melody on a DP24 track, then input a counter-melody into the VLT to produce harmonies which I’d record on another track. Mixing in the recorder to give the effect of having a backup singing group. (Think of bluegrass and blues “call and answer” type stuff).

  3. Hello!

I’ve just ordered by first VoiceLive Touch, and am preparing myself for its arrival by watching these videos. Thank you so much for all of the information presented here!

I’m going to be using a mic and guitar for live performance, but I also have a Kopf ToeKicker Stompbox that I’d like to plug in to loop also. Is the information from AUX IN able to be looped?

    Thanks!

  4. Hi

Has a video tutorial demonstrating the ‘aux in’ (in my case a mini-disc player) been made yet? I’m still a little bit at sea as to how best to use this input for harmonies.

    Thanks

    • Hi Rod,

The AUX in is pretty simple. Just plug an 1/8″ cable from your device into the AUX input on the Touch. There’s a control for the level of the AUX in the mix page. Even if you turn the volume to OFF, the AUX can still be used for NaturalPlay information to set key/scale. Just make sure that your NaturalPlay settings are on AUTO. If you have a guitar or keyboard plugged in, AUX will take a back seat to those devices for key/scale info.

  5. Hi

Thanks for all the amazing information, I have discovered so much more about my VoiceTouch. Can you tell me if I am able to record my MIDI keyboard pads into the loop along with my voice. I have plugged in DIN plug and USB, but only seem to be able to get the harmonies to move with the chord changes, is this the only way that a MIDI keyboard can be used? Also, I want to record my VoiceTouch performances into Garage Band, can you tell me how to do this please? Many Thanks in advance.

    Loo

    • Heya Loopy Loo,

Unfortunately the loop is audio only. Having MIDI ride along with it is an interesting idea. We’re also looking at allowing the loop to drive NaturalPlay in future products, which could be pretty cool also.

To record your performance in GarageBand, you’ll need the latest firmware update. 1.2.00. Then, connect your Touch to your Mac via USB. In GarageBand, you’ll need to select the Touch as the record source. After that, just press record and go! In terms of specifics for the operation of GarageBand, that’ll be something you’d need to research and get familiar with. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube etc. Something like this might get you started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMuQchbJRG0&feature=related

I got around this problem by running my midi keyboard through my computer (using ableton, but I’m sure you could use garage band)
I connected my keyboard to my computer using USB

I connected computer audio output (headphone jack) to the Voicelive AUX IN input.
I can now loop the beats and melodies I make on my midi keyboard.
The trouble is now fiddling with all your levels so you’re not clipping or overpowering your vocals.
        Good luck!

  6. Hi, if I use the TRS output, do I need a DI box to connect the VoiceLive Touch to the PA system?

Is there any way to use the XLR output for voice and one of the TRS output for guitar or keyboard?

    Thanks, Gordon

    • Hi Gordon,

If you’re running a long way to the PA, we recommend a DI to reduce the chance of line noise, with either the XLR or TRS outs.

If you set the box to Dual Mono in the setup menu, one TRS output will carry wet vocals and the other will carry wet guitar/keyboard (whatever is coming into the inst IN).

  7. I use my VLT for Karaoke. I also have a Mickie SRM150 that i run 2 mic in to. If i run the out line from the SRM 150 into the VLT will it work right. I would like to have the same effices on both mics. Or is there another way to do this.

    • Hi Jonathan,

All of our products are intended for one mic. If you’re combining the mics at the SRM150 and sending that into the VLT, make sure your gain is set up properly and that you’re going into the Mic in on the VLT. You’ll be able to use effects like Delay, Reverb, uMod and Transducer, but Hard Tune, Doubling and especially Harmony won’t fare so well with more than one incoming voice.

  8. how can i conect the tc helicon with my keyboard to get the harmoni from keyboard i ned to know witch kabel i ned and how to plug in keyboard

  9. can I use my needed 48V phantom power studio microphone with only voicelive touch? will it work normally?

    • I fixed my problem. good days… ;-)

  10. The Voicelive Touch is amazing. It and the Flashback Delay together make a great solo/instrumental rig. I’d love to see a firmware addition for fading out the original or backing loop so I could continue a solo as the loop fades out. Thank you.

  11. hello i bought the Voicelive touch and i was wondering if u could help me connect it to my mixer(mackie 820i).where do i plug the xlr out?is it into mic in or line in?thanks for your time

    • Hi George,

You can use either. Just make sure to set the input gain on the Mackie so that it doesn’t clip or distort.

I have a MACBOOK PRO (Mac OS X 10.6.8) most current software for my laptop. I cannot connect my VLtouch to my mac any more. I have down loaded the new firmware, I also have switched to Manual detection on the voice support.
It still does not find the VLtouch? is there a missing instruction?

  12. You can me please advise st. to, when set up microphone on XLR entrance, from exit XLR coming – out sound and extra large murmur. Is concerned trouble on apparatus or I have to VOICELIVE TOUCH somehow set?
Implore one’s help. Thank you. Roman SLÍVKA
I’m sorry, I don’t know at all English

    • Hiya Roman,

With this one I would definitely recommend contacting TC-Helicon’s support department so they can help you with this. You can find them via the following link:

      Best wishes,

  13. Thank you for the great tutorial videos and… for this great Voice Live Touch! When I come home from work the first thing for me is to grab the mic and turn the VLT on *jeah*.

It may sound a little stupid but the TRS outs confusing me… hmm i don´t want to brake my VLT when i plug the wrong cables or mixers in it, therefore here my questions:
How can I hook the VLT for example with a Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX and whch cables do I need?
Hmmm can I also connect my VLT to my old Vestax PMC 17A via RCA (Chinch)? When yes, how :) ?

    Thank you!
    Regards from Germany!
    Flo

    • Hiya Flo,

You can easily connect the VoiceLive Touch via TRS jacks to your Multimix 8 USB. Simply connect the outputs to one channel each and pan hard left and right respectively to get the correct stereo image.

Regarding your Vestax mixer, I’m unsure of the inputs. However, if there is a stereo input available then it’s entirely possible to connect the unit as long as you use Jack to RCA cables (if that is the connection on the mixer itself).

      Hope this helps :) .

      Best wishes,

      Joey

      • Thank you Joey!!!

        Only one more question :)
When I hook up my VLT with my Kaoss Pad 3 can I use TR to RCA cables?

The Kaoss Pad 3 has the “standart” red/white RCA cable input ports. When I would connect the one TR cable from the VLT to the red RCA input at the KP3 and the other VLT TR cable to the white RCA at the KP3.

        Thank you one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
        Greets
        Flo

      • Hi Flo,

Yep, that sounds like the way I’d do it. Let me know if you have any issues with that hook-up method.

        Cheers,
        Craig

  14. Hi! I have the original VoiceLive 1 Floor Model, is there anything like this for me? I know it is older, but it is still a wonderful piece, and I would love to know what I am missing out that it can do :) thank you! xoxox

  15. I can’t thank you enough for making simple to understand videos. Please put more out. I came home tonight from work and spent 2 hours watching these over and over again. Still lost but I understand more. I use no guitar midi or anything to give it a key to start off with. Can you tell me more of what to do or make a video about this? I really appreciate this.

    Thank You So Much

  17. hi how much pitch correction is best on voicelive touch,my singing is not to bad,

    thanks steve

    • Hiya Steve,

I would suggest that 50% is always a good starting point as far as the pitch correction goes. From there you can adjust it up or down as desired via the SETUP menu.

      Hope that helps a little!

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  18. Great tuts. Love advanced menus tutorial.
Great product. This thing even helped me to get a band )

High level service making you, guys, are really best.

    Kudos from Ukraine

    • Heya Nikita,

Thanks for the lovely feedback, it’s fantastic to know you can feel the customer care all the way down the line :) . Glad you’re enjoying your VoiceLive Touch!

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  19. ok. 1. what about set up main vocal for L or R ??? Any ideas ??? HELP !!!
    2. how to set up typical keyboard control (cutoff, resonance) for filter ???

    • Hiya Luxon,

Could you give me a little more detail regarding what you are trying to achieve here?

Are you wanting to pan the lead voice on VoiceLive Touch for a specific preset?

What did you want to set up in terms of filtering?

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  20. por favor,se podria traducir al español. gracias

  21. Hey, i’m back ;-)

What if both a guitar and a keyboard are connected to the VLT ?…

Imagine i play the guitar on a first song… controlling voicelive touch… then, i play the keyboard… will i have to do something special to control VLT with my kb ?… nothing to plug / unplug… no submenu to reach in order to “switch” from guitar to kb ?…

    Thanks

    • Hiya Sakamacheee,

If you use the “Autosense” setting on Natural Play then a heirachy will decide which input to focus on if they are both plugged in at the same time. However, the easiest way to do what you are suggesting is to set a favourite as “guitar” and then another one as “Midi”. Then, you simply need to change favourite to jump on the other instrument.

      Hope this helps.

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  22. Super, I’m totally satisfaction with my VLT! Had before VL2 – now my wife has it for her VW Plus – we both are very happy with this change. Sorry, 4 the bad English…
    Regards from Poland :)

  23. Hi !
Voice Live Touch seems to be coooooool :-)

There’s something i’m not sure about : controling the harmonies with a Midi Keyboard will give me only 3rd, 5th notes and octave ?… or can i obtain special voicings with 7th, 9th, #11 ?…

    Thanks !

    • Hiya Saka,

Glad you like the VoiceLive Touch!

When using the VoiceLive Touch in regular MIDI mode you will find that the harmonies will voice themselves in an intelligent way around the chrods you are playing. However, if you are using extended chords and would like specific voicings you may want to try “Notes” mode as this will mimic the exact voicings you are playing on your keyboard with the harmonies. This is the best way to customise your harmonies using the VoiceLive Touch (or VoiceLive 2) when using MIDI.

      Best wishes,

      Joey

      • Thank you, that’s all i wanted to know (for the moment…) :-)

  24. One thing that I find is missing in the user manual is exactly this type of hands-on instruction, so these videos are really useful. They are the true finishing Touch :-)

    Thanks!

  25. Is there any way to download what you,ve created to your computer, or mp3, i-pod? and how much storage space do I have, (ie) gig space? thank you..

    • Hiya Keith,

To record what you have made you will need to use a seperate recording device or recording software in your PC. THe VoiceLive Touch can connect to your PC via USB also for recording with a DAW. Check out the full manual for more details via the following link:

      http://www.tc-helicon.com/manuals/

As far as recording space for looping goes – In full stereo, you get 30 seconds of uncompressed hi-fidelity loop time. In mono, you get double that at 60 seconds. If you are brave, you can also disable the undo feature from the system menu (see themanual) to double the available memory (up to 120 seconds in mono mode). Note, making any changes to these modes will erase the current loop because the system needs to reconfigure the way it uses internal memory.

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  26. hi i would like to hear the voicelive touch using the aux in playing
a mp3 to get the data for harmonies.
    could this be arranged.

    thanks steve

    • Hiya Steve,

We are constantly working on new videos for our products. I’ll forward this request to the team on your behalf!

      Best wishes,

      Joey

Thanks so much for the Videos! They are really helpful and answered a lot of my questions!

I noticed, that Tom faded the loop with the Output control. Thats a great way of fading unless you want to continue singing while fading.
I hope you guys are working on that!

I study at Manhattan School of Music and I have two friends at school who hesitate to buy the VoiceLive Touch because of that. One of them ended up buying a loop station and effects in two different units. Just to give you an Idea what this little thing can mean to some of us.

    Thanks again for the Videos!

  27. I just received my VoiceLive Touch and I watched the video “setting mic leveel”. I have to turn the input up to the almost max limit to get any volumee. My mic is quite new and works with my mixer input ok. Is there is certain mic that works better with the Touch?

    • Hiya Michael,

That does sound strange. Does your mic require phantom power – have you turned this on? The VoiceLive Touch will work with pretty much any decent microphone without issue so it may be worth getting in touch with TC-Helicon’s support team so they can help you get this sorted:

      http://www.tc-helicon.com/support.asp

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  28. I bought the Voicelive2, and these tutorial videos have nothing in common with my equipment, what I need is something to help me with my model. Please contact me at my email address.

  29. thanks a lot for this good sharings…
    best wishes from Turkey… ;)
