TC Voice Live 2 Review on Media Production magazine
VoiceLive 2 is a very straigh forward and easy to use effect device, which is a true enhancement for solo performers, who are looking for an all-in-one solution for professional sound and live effects.
I advice every singer, singer-songwriter, or solo performer to take a closer look at the TC-Helicon VoiceLive 2 and try it for themselves. Once you play with it I’m sure you want I’m sure you want to own it.

Joey,
I sing in an 80′s band and want to use this but want the harmonies only to come out of the unit to another cahnnel our engineer can mix in ??? Can I use a xlr y cord on the way in to this and then to my actaul channl while using the outs of the unit to go into a seperate channel and only have the harmonies or FX go into that ??? This way I can adjust my in ear mix and our FOH guy can mix the harmonies to taste
Thanks
Patrick
Hi Patrick.
You’d want to use MONO mode, which sends Dry (with Tone and global pitch correction) out one XLR and Wet vocals out the other. Then, you turn Lead Mute ON in the global menu so the Wet channel only sends FX with no lead at all. Then the FOH engineer uses two faders, one for your dry lead and the other for the effects.
I am so interested in getting the voicelive 2 I can’t wait but I’m torn between the voicelive 2 and the voice play Gtx because I play live in a band and as a guitarist I switch so much from
Acoustic To Electric is there a way that the voicelive 2 can handle distortion pedals and wah wah pedals. Do I need both TC units. One for Acoustic & one for Electric Guitar running into my Marshall. Thanks for you help. Mike Taylor
Hi Mike,
If you want to switch guitars and use external pedals, I’d suggest going: Guitar –> VoiceLive Touch 2 or Play GTX (Guitar IN) –> Guitar THRU –> A/B box –> A channel goes to Acoustic Guitar setup (the PA?) / B channel goes to your guitar pedals and then on to your Marshall.
That way, you swap guitars, push the A/B switch and send the signal to the appropriate final destination. Putting the TC-H unit in the signal path using Guitar IN/THRU will make sure the chords from either guitar are detected for harmonies.
Hope that helps!
I think about use my voicelive2 to record my vocals to have Compressor, Eq, mic pre…. Is this a good idea or is better to buy a a tube Mic pre?
Best regards
Hi Luiz,
It depends on how “picky” you are about your sound and the rest of your gear chain. We find that most users are perfectly happy with the quality of the mic-pre’s in our products. That said, if you have a $1,000,000 signal chain, you might want to pick the mic pre for your particular application
I am extremely interested in buying the voice live 2. I’m a solo home recording musician and from watching some videos on the device on youtube, I’m really impressed with what it can do. But I’m still left with one question, for my guitar recordings I use the Axe fx 2 and for my vocals I use a line six tone port interface; both these products are really easy to use, just plug them in via USB and I can run them. With the voice live 2 how can I go about recording my vocals using this device to the fullest?
Hiya Martin,
You may find it interesting to have a read through the full manual for VoiceLive 2 and in particular the section starting from page 32 (connecting VoiceLive 2 to a computer). This section goes through the different way to connect the VoiceLive 2 for recording purposes.
You can find the complete manual via the following link:

Hope this helps
.

It may be worth getting in touch with TC-Helicon’s support team about this so they can help you troubleshoot the issue. You can contact them via the following link:

hi just a question is using the sleep mode on voicelive touch the same as turning the unit off
and can i leave the power plug in when using the sleep mode as i would if it had a on off switch.
thanks again steve
Hiya Steve,
It is kind of like turning the unit off but a better analogy would be to say that it is like putting your computer to sleep.
Yes, you can definitely leave the power plug in while the unit is sleeping as removing it will turn the unit off
.
Best wishes,
Joey
hi i just got my mic from you so i purchased a voicelive touch i would just
like more information on connecting to a computer to use with my DAW,
thanks steve
Hiya Steve,
Congratulations on your new VoiceLive Touch
.
There are several ways that you can use your VoiceLive Touch with a DAW. It’s definitely worth having a read through the section about this in the manual – if you read from page 25 via the following link it will take you through the details:

If you have any other questions then please sing out and I’ll do my best to help!

Can anyone tell me how well the pitch correction on this unit works….because that is all I would be using it for.
Hiya Kevin,
The pitch correction on the VoiceLive 2 is excellet. However, if it’s just pitch correction that you’re looking for you may want to check out either the VoiceTone Correct XT or VoiceTone C1 as they have a stong focus on this feature:

VoiceTone Single C1:

I want to record vocals independently of playing my guitar at the same time. Can the Voice Live 2 be used without an instrument being plugged into it? More importantly, is it possible to run a line out from my audio interface into it to enable it to harmonise with the backing tracks in cubase? Can it work out how to harmonise to drums, bass and guitar all at once? Many thanks, FP
Hiya FP,
Yes, the VoiceLive 2 can be used without and instrument via the “AUX” or “MIDI” inputs.
You can easily connect a line out from your soundcard to the “AUX” input and this would allow you to harmonise with the backing track – yes, it can be used for generating harmonies while listening to a full mix.
Check out the manual link below for more info on how this works and the many other features of VoiceLive 2:

I use this unit in my Tool tribute band. So far, i have yet to find anything it cannot do. It’s a great unit. I had looked at other makes and models but in the end I’m glad I went with this high end unit. I had some issues with one effect on one firmware update but I have since worked it through with the latest updates, which have been very fruitful considering every time they issue new software, they include new features. The VLoop addition has been a great addition for me. I change the order of presets based on my band’s set list so all I have to do is click to the next song and i’m right there ready to do. The Steps feature has been a godsend as well… as a tribute band, we try to replicate everything as if it were off of the CD and the features, looper and steps have kept things single yet true to the recordings… great product.
Ok…I am a novice vocalist who wants to up his game. I tried the original VoiceLive and returned it as it was too difficult for me to use. I need something with an easy learning curve. I want to be able to preset my entire setlist so I can go from song to song. Is their online tutorials to help me out?
Thanks for all of your help!
Mark
Hiya Mark,
The VoiceLive 2 was designed to be the most intuitive and user friendly device of it’s type available. I would say that despite the complexity of the unit itself it certainly has an easy learning curve and you can be up an running with it in no time at all. The VoiceLive 2 could easily store presets for your set list so you can step through them in order too!
As far as help to get you started goes – the first port of call would definitely be the complete user manual which can be downloaded for free via TC-Helicon’s website ( http://www.tc-helicon.com/manuals ). Then we also have the support site which has many FAQ’s and posts on VoiceLive 2 including several videos to help you on your way:-
http://support.tc-helicon.com/home
You might also find it helpful to get hooked up to TC-Helicon’s FaceBook too as there’s over 22,000 fans and users there who are usually pretty happy to offer advice. And, if all else fails, TC-Helicon’s support team are never far away ( http://www.tc-helicon.com/support.asp ).

Joey
Is this a good product for a home recording studio? I also have a M audio firewire 410, Will it work in conjunction with that or do all on its own? Thank you, Nancy
Hiya,
Yes, this is an excellent product for a home recording studio. With the Firewire 410 you can choose to either use the VoiceLive 2 on it’s own (via USB) or use it via analog i/o with the interface. The choice is completely yours!
Best wishes,
Joey
