Harmony-G XT adds pitch correction

We have a nice treat for current and future owners of Harmony-G XT. Highlighting why USB on a pedal is a nice treat, new firmware version 1.1 adds auto-chromatic pitch correction.

If you’ve never used auto-chromatic pitch correction, don’t think of your vocal being heavily effected similar to the Tpain’s and Kanye West’s of the world. The pitch correction in Harmony-G XT is like having a pitch guide, letting you know when you’re out of tune – subtly and naturally.

How do engage it?

Double click the TONE button. The TONE button will flash rapidly to let you know the state of pitch correction has changed. The TONE button will flash once every few seconds to let you know it’s on.

More Detail
With Auto-Chromatic Pitch Correction TC-Helicon has just made it even easier to deliver pitch- perfect vocals every time. Regular pitch tuning works to a key or scale, but with Auto-Chromatic Pitch Correction there’s no scale or key setting, allowing vocalists to plug in a mic and deliver perfect vocals every time.

The typical adjustments of key, scale and attack time aren’t present because the chromatic scale works for all Western scale-based songs and the rest of the parameters e.g. Tone and correction amount are pre-set. Simply double-click the Tone button and pitch correction is engaged.

  1. Can these units be used to correct harmony vocals as well as lead vocals. I am getting older and my harmonies a starting to stray a bit but I’m not ready to give up me singing harmonies to a machine generated harmony. I hope this works if so We will buy 3 one for each vocalist

    • Hi Dale,

The Harmony voices are corrected when they’re created. In the Harmony G-XT, there isn’t a specific control for “how much” correction is applied to the voices. If you use the pitch correction for your lead voice (which is subtle) it will increase the correction on the harmony voices, since the lead signal they get is more accurate (pitch-wise).

In other devices, like VoiceLive 2, Rack and Touch 2 you can adjust various humanization parameters that will affect the amount of correction applied to the harmony voices.

      Hope that helps!

  2. Hello….”)

I like to engage The G-XT with a 3rd above My Vocal …. I am Hearing a Low Octave Voice.

Is this Due to the Pitch Correction?? or is it something Else??

    thnks Again

  3. Have a Harmony G that I bought new a couple of years ago when I did a solo tour..it started acted funny at a gig last weekend…first the looped guitar went out and only had vocal. Then when we reset it the vocals wouldn’t work. Got home and plugged it up and now it won’t even power up. Please advise if there is anything I can do. I should be your rep, everywhere I go other artists hear me and request all the info-then I get countless reports of them buying one because of my endorsement. Suddenly, I’m feeling as if it’s not very durable.
    Disappointed in Nashville : (

    • Hi Brian,

A couple of years in touring conditions is pretty good depending on how much beer and sweat got into it! In all seriousness, if you’re having an issue, the support team is great. Get in touch with them at http://www.tc-helicon.com/support

So really speaking if you have already bought the TC helicon harmony G, then this unit is in fact obsolete, or should i say not worth looking at, it’s a shame really because people have spent out on the harmony G when in fact the the XT is the way forward.

  4. Hi,
I just got in my TC Harmony GX t and I think I downloaded the firmware for pitch correction. When I double click the tone button it flashes 5 times. How do I know when it is engaged? If I double click again and it flashes 5 times have I turned it off? When I turn it on each time do i need to doubel click the tone button so it flashes 5 times to engage it?
    thanks!
    Mike

    • Hi mike grimes,

As stated above “The TONE button will flash once every few seconds to let you know it’s on.” Keep an eye on the light and you should see the flashing. It’s a single flash every 5 seconds or so.

The correction is set up to persist though power cycles.

      Hope that helps!
      Cheers,
      Craig

    Hello!

Now that the Harmony XT offers pitch correction, what features does the Correct XT offer that should be appealing to someone who already owns the Harmony G XT?

    Thank you!

    • Hiya Ric,

The Harmony-G XT only offers one specific preset for automatic pitch correction and whilst this is an extremely useful upgrade it’s nowhere near as flexible as the Correct XT in this regard.

With the Correct XT you can adjust all settings for your vocal front end manually including dynamics, pitch correction amount etc. Also, the fantastic anti-feedback feature on Correct XT is something that is unavailable on any other TC-Helicon product at this time.

      Hope this helps.

      Best wishes,

      Joey

  5. Can I use this harmony G XT with my Technics KN7000 keyboard? or can I use it without conecting it to any instrument? if so how?
    Thank you for any help
    Marvin

    • Hiya Marvin,

If you are looking to create harmonies from MIDI then it may be worth checking out the Harmony-M as this will give you great results with your keyboard. Also, the VoiceLive Touch and VoiceLive 2 have MIDI capabilities as well as the “Aux Input” which allows you to feed any stereo audio source to the unit for harmony generation.

The Harmony-G XT may work for the purpose you’ve described but we cannot guarantee results for a few reasons:

      – You would only be able to send a mono signal to the instrument input of Harmony-G XT as opposed to your keyboards stereo output.
      – The input impedance on the Harmony-G XT is specifically designed for guitar.

However, you can still use the Harmony-G XT in manual mode which allows you to set a key and scale for harmonies. This means that you don’t need to have an instrument connected at all.

      Hope this helps!

      Best wishes,

      Joey
