Hannah Schneider – Vocal Visionary
![]()
Hannah Schneider is a Danish singer and a true vocal visionary with an unusual approach and a spectacular sound. First of all, it takes a great singer, of course, but TC-Helicon’s VoiceLive 2 vocal effects processor is actually partly responsible for Hannah Schneider’s amazing sound. We caught up with Hannah in 2010 and again in 2012. What follows is an account of an artist carving her own niche over time.
2010…
Using technology to fuel creativity
Hannah Schneider is definitely not scared off by technology. On the contrary, she has found a way to use it actively – and to her advantage – throughout the entire process of making music. All the way, from providing inspiration when composing over studio sessions to live performances, VoiceLive 2 is sitting comfortably at her feet.

“To have absolute control over the harmonies”, she says, “I use a MIDI-keyboard, which gives me the freedom to experiment and explore any harmonic territory anytime I want to. It also allows me to create underlying and moving, harmonic lines that interweaves musically within the songs.”

Saving time
“When I compose”, Hannah Schneider continues, “I also find it extremely useful to be able to try out vocal harmony ideas instantly instead of having to overdub tons of vocal tracks, which can be extremely time consuming and even prevent new musical ideas from ever happening in the spur of the moment.”
“Sometimes”, she recalls, “I have even come up with harmonic vocal arrangements so strong that I decided to just keep it that way. No accompaniment of any kind, just my voice and harmonies and effects from my VoiceLive 2!”
Performing live
“When I perform live”, Hannah Schneider says, “I use just two VoiceLive 2 presets that I can switch between easily. I also use the internal delay effects a lot, and I have set up my VoiceLive 2 so I can tap in the tempo of the delay in real-time on the fly.”
About Hannah Schneider
Hannah Schneider’s music is partly based on a traditional singer-songwriter approach, but it is also heavily influenced by various, electronic genres, which results in a very interesting and unique musical expression. In September 2009, Mermaid Records/Sony Music released her debut album, ‘Hannah Schneider’, and in February 2012 they released her sophomore album “Me vs I”.

2012…
It’s two years later and we meet up with Hannah in her kitchen, where a substantial part of her new record has been recorded or created. The focus is still on creativity and finding new exciting sounds to play with and get ideas from, but with her taking on the reins as producer for the new album there’s a marked assuredness that reveals both great confidence as an artist, and the experience that comes with it, as well as a finely honed focus on songwriting.
Gear and setup
The centerpieces are still a midi-keyboard and VoiceLive 2, but with the addition of a loop pedal to her home setup, Hannah has moved into the one-man band territory taking full control of every aspect of her sound and compositions; an artist with a clear vision in other words.

Hiya alfred,
Thanks for your interest in the VoiceLive Touch. We should have some dealers in Germany which will most likely be making some videos soon after the product arrives with them.
It might also be a wise idea to visit your local shop when they have the VoiceLive Touch in stock and try one out. This is by far the best way to understand what this unit can do
. There should also be a manual in German sometime soon which you can download for free via TC-Helicon’s website which might be helpful to give further insight and information as to what this unit is all about.
Best wishes,
Joey
