A couple of weeks back the world celebrated “Back to the Future Day”. If you’re a fan of the classic 1980s sci-fi trilogy, chances are you too joined Marty McFly for a 5½ hour long time-traveling adventure (for like the millionth time).
If you did, you probably also giggled at the point where Marty and the mad scientist Doc Brown travel to October 21st 2015.
Because unlike all the other times you watched it, narrated time and real time friggin’ overlapped! Great Scott!
Now, if you’re anything like us, the whole overlapping-time-thing forced you into seeing the movies in a new (and more realistic) light leading to the realization:
The future is now, and it’s nothing like we thought it would be.
Let’s go through the checklist, shall we? Pizza hydrators. Dog-walking drones. Hover boards. No, no and … no. All of the things we were most excited about continue to be fictitious.

The Mi.mu gloves
A pair of gloves? Yes, but not your typical hand garments. Trust us, these things operate like something straight out of Minority Report!
The gloves have an array of sensor systems and a software that drives the detection of gestures and motions. Long story short, they translate your movements into signals that can control music, visuals or even lights!
And what’s even better, they can be programmed to control a range of TC-Helicon products!
Although they’re still in a relatively high price range, more and more people are beginning to show interest in the technology, not least because the mi.mu project is open-sourced and anyone with sufficient tech-flair will be able to make their own pair.

In this video Chagall rehearses with her pair of mi.mu gloves & the VoiceLive Touch 2.
She has programmed the gloves to control harmonies depending on her hand gestures (basically, she’s feeding the VoiceLive Touch 2 MIDI signals).
So, is this what we all will be wearing in 2045? Don’t know. But if it is, we hope you’re going to use your pair to control a TC-Helicon product ;)
