VoiceTone Synth helps me out a lot. I appreciate it.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as the greatest metal band of their generation, Mastodon has paved an unrelenting path to the top of the charts with ambitious and complex songwriting paired with a clear 70’s hard-rock sensibility that has been a hit with critics and fans alike.

Recent albums “Crack The Skye” (2009), “The Hunter” (2011) and "Once More 'Round the Sun" (2014) has seen the band focus even more on stripping down and tightening the compositions with major critical and commercial success following suit. We caught up with bass player and lead vocalist, Troy Sanders at Roskilde Festival 2011 just before the release of “The Hunter” to chat about gear and songwriting.

“[On Crack the Skye] we tried to really focus on the art of song-craft more so than we’ve ever have before tying in these influences, both musically and personally, that had gone on within our band. It just became deeper and, you know, some parts were heavier, some parts were more beautiful, and some parts were more spacious …just continuing to evolve musically… and really tying in some deeper stuff. “
